Black Web Woven Wool Long Dress with Embroidered Velvet Accents circa 1910s
Where to start on this beauty??
Incredible Gibson Girl silhouette Edwardian black wool and velvet dress in jet black. Most of the dress is done in a webbed wide woven black wool, skirt unlined, has curving black cotton velvet panels that wrap from back to side of hips and are finished with soutache design. Bodice is same wool, lined, and loaded with black lace. Sleeves have a wide velvet "cuff" above elbow with soutache detail, sheer wool to mid forearm cuff. Closes up back with hook and eyes, snaps. Lining of bodice needs some love but looks fine as is, some places where the wool is wider/looser than others (just a few). An unusual and complex dress, hand made.
34" bust, 24" waist, 15" bodice, 36" hips, 55" long, 15" sleeves
