And could she be any more Aunt Ada from The Gilded Age? Amazing curry and cinnamon striped silk 2 pc dress set from the turn of the century with wonderful details. The bodice of course has the nipped waist, pleated trim down neckline and on sleeve cuffs- beautiful black faceted glass buttons with metallic gold flecks, tall collar. Interior petersham. Slightly padded at back hem for resting on a bustle. The skirt has draping and pleats and full ruffles down back creating its own bustle effect- lined in a dyed muslin, has a cinch cord inside near knees to create hopped effect. Hook and eye closure at back of waist. Horsehair braid trim at hem. A little wear to silk at top of neckline- no holes or stains- superb, sturdy and wearable. An amazing piece of fashion history in nearly pristine condition.Â
